Acanthus leaves and other vines entwined with a variety of flowers in red, orange, yellow, and blue. It is based on an embroidery design by the William Morris studio. The original was stitched in silk on linen and made into a portiere (a curtain hung over a doorway). Our cross stitch version retains the look of embroidery. The background is stitched. (c. 1890)
