A tableau of four figures representing the seasons. Spring, in a flowered tunic, holds a garland of white flowers. Summer, in a white tunic with a green stole, carries a basket of roses. Autumn, dressed in rich oranges and reds, holds a basket of purple grapes, and places a small cluster of grapes into an iron cauldron held by Winter, in gray. Flowers along the bottom represent the progression of seasons, from daffodils to irises, daisies, lilies, poppies, and finally fall leaves. A winged child is on the left, while an old man playing pan pipes sits on the ground at the right. (1903)
