In the rolling Iowa farmland, a plainly-dressed woman hoes holes along a string line as a boy in overalls plants seedlings from a basket. Next to him is a bucket of water with a dipper to water the plants in. Behind them a man is tilling the plowed field with a team of horses, avoiding a flowering tree. Farther off is a herd of white-faced cattle and other farmsteads. A spray of apple blossoms and buds is close to us in one corner. (American Regionalism, 1941)
