Saint Agatha, based on a Greek Orthodox icon. The Greek text, transliterated, says Hagia Agatha (Saint Agatha). Agatha was desired by the Praetor of Sicily, but she refused him and was arrested as a Christian and endured many trials and torture, including having her breasts cut off. She is the patron saint of women with breast cancer, and 20% of the sale of each copy of this pattern will go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
The background is not stitched. We show it on gold fabric similar to the original icon, but any color may be used.
