A botanical print of Hemerocallis flava, the yellow daylily or lemon lily, from Redoute's Les Liliacees. It grows wild in much of the world. Each flower opens in the morning and lasts a single day, then drops off if it has not set seed. Here are three open flowers, buds in various stages, a seed pod, and a couple of blunt stem ends where the old flowers have fallen. The background is not stitched. Ecru fabric is recommended. (About 1805-1816)
