Noah has been commanded by God to build a great ark and take aboard two of every kind of animal and bird so that they will be saved from the flood which will be sent to wipe out the wickedness of mankind. As the storm clouds gather, a procession of animals boards the ark two by two. There are cattle, horses, donkeys, deer, goats, sheep, pigs, lions, dogs, goats, zebras, giraffes, camels, apes, gazelles, elephants, tigers, rabbits, squirrels, bears, and rhinoceroses. Birds fill the sky and are entering the ark through a window. (1846)
