Portraits in the Countryside - Gustave Caillebotte
Counted Cross Stitch Pattern
The artist's mother along with his aunt, cousin, and a family friend. The ladies are seated in a garden courtyard outside a house. The older women are in black; the young lady is in gray. Three of them are stitching at needlework, while the fourth is reading (but has an embroidery stand close at hand). An orange-striped window awning and a bed of bright red flowers add bright notes to the scene. (Impressionist, 1876)
