Roundel of the Madonna in a red dress and blue cape trimmed with gold braid holding the infant Jesus on her lap. Two angels hold an ornate golden crown trimmed with gauzy streamers above her head, while another angel holds a book and ink pot out to her, in which she is about to write. The baby has a pomegranite in his hand which is a symbol of the resurrection. The models were actually members of the Piero de'Medici family. (1481-2)
