Cross Stitch Patterns from Fine Art by Scarlet Quince   Scarlet Quince News

Dear stitching friends,
African Elephant We're happy to announce a new feature that we have had in mind for some time - cross stitching for a worthy cause! When you buy one of our new patterns, African Elephant, we will donate 20% of the proceeds to The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee. This is a wonderful organization that provides a home for elephants including two of the necessities of quality elephant life, plenty of room to roam and the society of other elephants. Many of their elephants come from zoos or circuses where they were mishoused or mistreated and they really deserve a break. Check out their web site and learn more about what they do.

We have a big weakness for elephants so we are offering this pattern in two sizes, EST001 which has more detail, and EST001-S which is a little less detailed but smaller and quicker to stitch (click the picture for details).

We plan to add more patterns in the future which will benefit other non-profit organizations which are doing good work.

Updates to our site

Once again there are a lot of new pictures in the gallery this month! The new pieces are Young Woman with Cat, Blue Horse, and The Lacemaker. There are also updates for The Accolade and Lady with Unicorn: Sense of Hearing. There is some very nice work here! As usual, we have moved the updated pieces to the top of the page, with the pictures in chronological order, but so that you can jump to your favorite piece, we have added quick links in the left side bar (in order by artist's last name). Enjoy!

We are also working away at the Tips page. We have added content to the sections How to cross (there will be a quiz later!), Anchoring floss, Stitching neatly, and updated parts of Stitch order and Keeping your place. All changes are dated to make it easier to find them.

A couple of the new sections have links to illustrations. We plan to have a lot more illustrations for stitching techniques as well as various equipment that we discuss. And we still are working on adding all the tips that you, our members, sent in. It's a slow process! But we encourage you to send any and all ideas that you find helpful and we will get them in there eventually!
