Hello stitching friends,
We Have Arrived in York!
Actually, we arrived a couple of months ago. It was quite a trip, two humans and 3 cats in a subcompact car, 1500 miles, 24 hours of driving, 3 days. Since then, I've been occupied
- unpacking, folding packing paper, breaking down boxes
- deciding where the furniture should go, changing my mind, moving things (including the piano, unfortunately)
- searching for stuff that got lost (I believe all by us, not the movers)
- wondering what on earth could have happened to a box that I know I put in MRA's truck and that he says he didn't take out
- spending 1-2 hours a day for about the first 6 weeks trying to get the wireless printers working
- making a change to credit card processing which unfortunately had a deadline in this time period
- learning my way around York (which is made harder when Google Maps sends you a different way every time)
- opening new bank accounts (which takes a lot longer than I remembered
- having quite the cliff-hanger of a closing on our old house
- switching car registrations, driver's licenses, and insurance
- updating our address a million places that we had forgotten until we got forwarded mail from them
- putting things away and searching for things that had been put away in illogical places
- shopping for furnishings (mostly rugs) we didn't need in our last house but do here, and conversely trying to get rid of things we don't need any more
- jumping into planning for a bathroom remodel (so every time I thought I could sit down and write a newsletter, it was "let's go look at toilets" or something)
- and then it was tax time
However, things are mostly back to normal. It's amazing how quickly you can get 90% of the stuff put somewhere and then the last 10% you just have no idea what to do with, and so it just sits around, day after day.
New Patterns
I was saddened by the fire at Notre Dame, as I'm sure you were, and was inspired to get back into pattern design with two of the rose windows. A couple of people have suggested these, and I'm waiting to hear back from the first of the people on the list. Clink either picture for a closer look.
