We have a pattern award this month! Lindsay from Kent in the UK was the first to suggest Harbor at Night, Otaru - Kawase Hasui (see below) and we've sent her a copy of the pattern. Thank you, Lindsay!

There are more new pictures in the gallery! One brave soul included a picture of the back of her work. You know you have to see it! (Look under "more pictures" for the pelican.)

We've added a floss calculator to the web site! It allows you to print the floss requirements for any pattern, and for any stitch count! You can get started shopping for your floss before your pattern arrives (we have always emailed floss requirements to those who asked, but now you don't have to wait for a response.) Our patterns include floss requirements for 16-count and 18-count fabric, but if you want to stitch on 11-count or 25-count, now you can find out how much floss you'll need for those. Specify whether you want the requirements in inches or centimeters -- no more of those annoyingly ecumenical lists.

We've also improved the floss calculation to reflect the way you probably stitch. It actually plans a stitching path through the pattern, with jumps of no more than a few stitches. This should make the estimates more accurate (and the patterns have been updated to use the new method as well).

The floss calculator is found under the Goodies tab, and there's a link to it from each pattern. Look on the left side of the page for a button that says "Get floss requirements".
