Scarlet Quince News
January 2021

Hello stitching friends,

Happy New Year! Let's hope 2021 is way better than 2020! To get things off to a good start, there's nothing like a sale! Now through the end of January, everything is 10% off!

Three of four of our new patterns this month are by suggestion! Harriet Hart was the first person to suggest The Palm House - Carl Blechen, and she has received a copy of the pattern as a thank-you. Unfortunately, we couldn't reach the people who made the other two suggestions. I hate when that happens! The moral is, please let us know if your email address changes! Members can update their emails on our member services page (or you can just email or text us, but remember, we need both your old and new email to update your suggestions).

We just added about 50 new pictures to the gallery! Many of these were first posted in our Facebook group, so if you follow that, you've seen most of them, but we like to include them in the gallery for folks who aren't on Facebook.

SQ Stitch News

We've recently learned that SQ Stitch now works in the Edge browser!. It still doesn't work in Internet Explorer, and probably won't, but you can install Edge in older versions of Windows. If Edge is your preferred browser, you can switch to it by doing backups of your patterns in whatever browser you have been using, then start SQ Stitch in Edge, click "check for more" to get a list of your patterns, install any you made backups of, and then restore those patterns.

Some of you have commented on the fact that the links we give to SQ Stitch are not secure, so you probably get warnings about that when you need to log in. What happened was, we thought it would be easy to switch, but if you access SQ Stitch through http (non-secure), it's a whole separate copy of the data from an https (secure) connection. We're working on a remedy, which should be ready soon -- we just need to make sure it's really bullet-proof.

It will involve making a copy of all your data from the non-secure database, then changing to secure and loading all the data there. It will all be done automatically, except that you'll be able to control when it happens (because I hate it when I need to do something and my device decides that its needs come first -- imagine if your car wouldn't let you drive anywhere except the shop if maintenance was due). The whole process should only take a minute or two per installed pattern. Once the data has been transferred, you will still be able to access the non-secure copy in case you need to review anything. Once you are comfortable, you can (and should) delete the non-secure copy so it's not needlessly taking up space. You won't have to keep track of steps -- we will remind or prompt you through any decisions you need to make. I'll have more information for you when we're about to roll this out.

Stay well and keep stitching,
Meredith
